Welcome - ยินดีต้อนรับ

Hello all family and friends!

With great excitement, we started our adoption journey in August 2008. We are now first time parents through adoption of an 8-year-old son from Thailand. We have chosen to build our family through the adoption of a son from Thailand because this is where we feel God is leading us right now.

It took 1 year and 9 months to bring Ray home and it was totally worth it!

We appreciate all of your love and support. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Gifts for Ray's 8th Birthday

A new Mickey Mouse t-shirt for our son...
he'll fit in this animated family quite well!

Showing off the drawing he sent us in March!
We also were able to track down a few items of Doraemon,
the Japanese cartoon character that Ray likes (to match stickers he put on our drawing). Thanks, Dad, for snapping these photos for us!

WACAP will be bringing these items to the TRC the first week in November, just in time for Ray's 8th birthday on the 4th. We hope he can feel our love from around the world!

Our daughter loves Doraemon, too. I was familiar with him from having lived in Japan. The wait is very long and hard. And the first few months are tough when everyone is trying to adjust to what this new family is supposed to be like. But, it is well worth the wait. We were one of the longest waiting families, in many regards, I am told. We got the phone call about one year and two months after submitting our dossier and traveled and met our daughter almost exactly two years from the time we first applied. Then we spent a record five weeks overseas dealing with USCIS. Only after a Senatorial investigation our case moved forward. We're hoping that our case made them pick up the pace more at CIS since last December/January. We can't wait to follow your story when you travel.

Hi! My husband and I are adopting an older child from Thailand. I'd love to get connected and hear how the post-adoption adjustment went!

Why are we adopting internationally and not domestically?
While we think adopting domestically is extremely important, our hearts are drawn to the waiting children in other countries. Some of our closest friends and relatives have adopted, are adopted themselves, or are planning to adopt internationally. This has been a wonderful experience for them, as I am confident our adoption will be for us.

Why are we adopting from Thailand?
The number one reason is simply...that's where our son is living right now. Also, the Thai people are extremely laid back and friendly and the adoption process is very straight forward in Thailand and has been around for decades so there should be no surprises or corruption. After researching our other options, the requirements to adopt from Thailand fit our requirements. If we decide to adopt again, we will reevaluate the different countries and domestic programs.
