Welcome - ยินดีต้อนรับ

Hello all family and friends!

With great excitement, we started our adoption journey in August 2008. We are now first time parents through adoption of an 8-year-old son from Thailand. We have chosen to build our family through the adoption of a son from Thailand because this is where we feel God is leading us right now.

It took 1 year and 9 months to bring Ray home and it was totally worth it!

We appreciate all of your love and support. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Father's Day Gift

Bryan really wanted to send something to Ray in honor of Father's Day. So, we bought him Mickey Mouse sunglasses and then took pictures of our stuffed Mickey wearing them and us wearing our sunglasses. We also got him airplane Legos and a 3-D Slide Viewer with Disney slides. We sent the package to the director at the TRC and hopefully it will get there by Sunday for the holiday!

Very cute! I'm sure he'll love them. Hey, did you bleach your hair? Better send your little boy a picture so he knows his "new" mommy. : )

No; I didn't bleach my hair. I think it's just the lighting in the picture. But my hair does naturally get lighter in the summer since I'm outside in the sun more often. Ray will have copies of these photos with his gift package.

Hello!
I'm a fellow-adoptive Mom from Wisconsin who is checking your blog more and more frequently--hoping that the news that it is time for you to travel will approach soon!
I want to share with you a favorite prayer that an adoptive Mom shared with me when I was waiting to travel to meet my first daughter, Sara Marina. I have said this prayer daily ever since--as I waited to travel to adopt my second daughter, Kate, and after that I modified the words a bit and continue to say it each day for them.
Here is the prayer:

May you be safe and sleep soundly through the night.
May you be safe as you wake to the morning's light.
May you feel my love from so far away.
May it comfort and protect you throughout each day.
I pray for you my little one, until our time of waiting is done.
I pray that the Lord keep you safe from harm,
Until the child in my heart becomes the child in my arms.

Blessings to you, and to Ray who waits for you,
Marcia

Thank you, Marcia. That is a lovely sentiment and I believe I will be adding that prayer to my daily prayer thoughts.

Why are we adopting internationally and not domestically?
While we think adopting domestically is extremely important, our hearts are drawn to the waiting children in other countries. Some of our closest friends and relatives have adopted, are adopted themselves, or are planning to adopt internationally. This has been a wonderful experience for them, as I am confident our adoption will be for us.

Why are we adopting from Thailand?
The number one reason is simply...that's where our son is living right now. Also, the Thai people are extremely laid back and friendly and the adoption process is very straight forward in Thailand and has been around for decades so there should be no surprises or corruption. After researching our other options, the requirements to adopt from Thailand fit our requirements. If we decide to adopt again, we will reevaluate the different countries and domestic programs.
