Welcome - ยินดีต้อนรับ

Hello all family and friends!

With great excitement, we started our adoption journey in August 2008. We are now first time parents through adoption of an 8-year-old son from Thailand. We have chosen to build our family through the adoption of a son from Thailand because this is where we feel God is leading us right now.

It took 1 year and 9 months to bring Ray home and it was totally worth it!

We appreciate all of your love and support. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Orphanage Pre-Approval

We’ve received news from the Thai Red Cross Children's Home (orphanage in Bangkok, Thailand) that our Home Study draft was reviewed and based on the information therein – they have given our family pre-approval. They are asking for our official dossier ASAP.

Ray is at the TRC so we need first to be matched and accepted by the TRC. After TRC approval our file goes to the Thai DSDW for final approval.

This is GREAT news! I think it means that he is now "on hold" for us at both our agency (WACAP) and the orphanage (TRC)...so he's really ours!

I have already been collecting the dossier documents but thought WACAP wouldn't want them until Feb-March next year once the USCIS papers are finalized. That's not the case...we can submit our dossier waaaaay before the immigration papers are finalized. SO...I will be sure to get moving on the rest of the documents to hopefully have them to WACAP before this month ends (even though we're on vacation 11/14-11/22).

YIPEE!!!

That's wonderful news! Always good to have something to do to help the time pass! Even if it is running around, getting documents notarized! I'd love to see a pic of your son, Ray. Our son, Jacob, is 8 years old, and lived at the TRC until he was nearly 5. He may know Ray. Also, there is a slim chance we have a photo with Ray in it from when we were there getting Jacob. If you are able to email me a pic of Ray, that would be great!

Why are we adopting internationally and not domestically?
While we think adopting domestically is extremely important, our hearts are drawn to the waiting children in other countries. Some of our closest friends and relatives have adopted, are adopted themselves, or are planning to adopt internationally. This has been a wonderful experience for them, as I am confident our adoption will be for us.

Why are we adopting from Thailand?
The number one reason is simply...that's where our son is living right now. Also, the Thai people are extremely laid back and friendly and the adoption process is very straight forward in Thailand and has been around for decades so there should be no surprises or corruption. After researching our other options, the requirements to adopt from Thailand fit our requirements. If we decide to adopt again, we will reevaluate the different countries and domestic programs.
