Welcome - ยินดีต้อนรับ

Hello all family and friends!

With great excitement, we started our adoption journey in August 2008. We are now first time parents through adoption of an 8-year-old son from Thailand. We have chosen to build our family through the adoption of a son from Thailand because this is where we feel God is leading us right now.

It took 1 year and 9 months to bring Ray home and it was totally worth it!

We appreciate all of your love and support. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Home Study Draft

Yipee! I just got our home study draft via email from Special Children. So tonight I can read it through thoroughly and check for errors, omissions, and grammar errors. Then WACAP will have to review it, and then the state/feds need to approve it. But this gets us one step closer!

Also, the CEO of WACAP is visiting the orphanages in Thailand next week and she is going to take a copy of the HS draft with her to show to the Thai social workers so they know about us ahead of time which, I'm hoping, will make the referral process go faster next year.

Yipee! Thanks for all the support and prayers...they must be working!

Hi Ann and Bryan. We too are adopting through WACAP. We are adopting a 22 month old boy from their waiting child program. We just sent our Dossier to WACAP last week. E-mail us at ourthaitale@gmail.com and I'll send you a link to our blog.

So exciting that you got another important step done in the process. I remember those day-long classes. They could be overwhelming. We also had several evening classes. We'd always need to drive to Denver for those (one to one and a half hours drive one way). So, we were very thankful when all the classes were over. That's neat to hear, too, about your local pharmacist being from Thailand. It's so fun to realize all of the new special relationships that will develop because of your child you're adopting.

Why are we adopting internationally and not domestically?
While we think adopting domestically is extremely important, our hearts are drawn to the waiting children in other countries. Some of our closest friends and relatives have adopted, are adopted themselves, or are planning to adopt internationally. This has been a wonderful experience for them, as I am confident our adoption will be for us.

Why are we adopting from Thailand?
The number one reason is simply...that's where our son is living right now. Also, the Thai people are extremely laid back and friendly and the adoption process is very straight forward in Thailand and has been around for decades so there should be no surprises or corruption. After researching our other options, the requirements to adopt from Thailand fit our requirements. If we decide to adopt again, we will reevaluate the different countries and domestic programs.
